January's Night Out at Olivers selection is a mid-cape couple. Ted and Joan (names changed) have 3 grandchildren, one of which has cerebral palsy. The children's mother is a single working mom. Ted and Joan get the kids off to school every morning as well as pick them up and stay with them in the afternoon till mom gets home from work. Because of their tireless devotion to their grandchildren, they deserve a night out on us!

Night Out at Olivers

We had a nice response to our Night Out at Olivers campaign. In case you didn't read last month's newsletter, we're going to treat a deserving couple to dinner each month for the next few months. We asked for nominations and received almost 50 worthy ones. Originally we set the campaign up to award  a night out for one couple each month. However, an anonymous donor has offered to pay for an additional deserving couple! Therefore you'll find two stories  below with the names changed to preserve the the  couple's privacy.

Couple Number 1: Sue and Dave (names changed). Sue and Dave adopted, as their own,
two foster children who were brother and sister. As the children grew older they noticed
they both had special needs including autism and other mental disabilities. On top of all
that Sue was recently diagnosed with a rare form of breast cancer. Dave still works, but
because Sue has be a stay at home mother as well as deal with her cancer, money is tight.
Sue says "going out to dinner would be simply lovely".

Couple Number 2: Chris and Phil (names changed). This young couple has been dealing
with a rare cancer for the past five years. It started in Phil's throat and has spread to
other parts of his body. Chris, while working part time, frequently drives Phil to
 Boston, sometimes several times a week to undergo testing for clinical trials as
traditional treatment is no longer working. Phil is still able to eat normal food and
we hope they'll both enjoy their dinner at Olivers.

We'll contact the couples directly and arrange a time for their Night Out. We'll
continue to take nominations, so keep those stories coming in, by email or regular mail.

Gift Cards
An Olivers & Planck's Tavern Gift Card makes a great gift anytime and especially
during the holiday season and we offer them in any denomination over $10. During the
month of December for every $50 Gift Card you buy at Olivers we'll give you a reward
certificate for $5 which you can use toward food and beverage. Buy two $50 gift cards
and receive $10 in reward certificates and so on.

New Year's Eve
It's not too early to make your New Year's Eve reservations. Call us at 508-362-6062 or
email us at olivers@oliverscapecod.com with your request. We take reservations
on the half hour starting at 5 pm. We'll publish the menu a little later this month.
